When I was writing the article about the top Pokemon fan games, I made sure to emphasize how many different games there were to choose from. The Pokemon universe is constantly growing thanks to the releases made by Game Freak as well as the massive amounts of content made by fans.
We had a look around at what was available in terms of Mario fan games, and boy oh boy, were we not disappointed! I had the impression that there were quite a few Pokemon fan games... There are approximately 1,500 Mario-related fan games currently available, so sifting through them all can be a challenge. But as we are all well aware, more does not necessarily equate to better.
As a result, we put in the effort to identify the very best Mario games, so that you won't have to waste your time with the sometimes overwhelming number of ones that aren't very good. Due to the fact that I had no idea what kind of epic quality these games would possess, writing this article was one of my absolute favorites to do.
The Australian developer ASMB Games intended to create a Super Mario Bros. and cuphead, which resulted in a visually distinctive fusion of the two franchises.
Akin to a platforming game in which the action takes place on a planet in the shape of a disc, from which Mario can launch a spaceship to travel to other randomly generated worlds and investigate them. An experience that appears to have no end, given that each world can be entirely different.
However, approximately one week after the game was made available on itch.io, Nintendo sent a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act emanding that the game be removed from the website.
Shortly after receiving the notice, the group made the decision to publish an updated version of "DMCA's Sky," an obvious slap in the face to Nintendo.
However, the team had made it known that their submission to the three-day game jam was missing many ideas, and they eventually continued working on the project, which resulted in a more fully featured release titled "Deep Sky."
Therefore, the essence of the fan game continues to exist, and fans now have a completely different game to enjoy.
