EVE Online - Establishing The Story Of New Eden has not posted anything yet
When many outsiders think of EVE Online, I'm prepared to bet that the first thing that comes to mind are the stories told of New Eden's Capsuleers -- that the participant pilots that write the history of this secondary world. More frequently than not, when people in the media accounts an EVE narrative, it is talking exclusively about the escapades of a player or Corporation doing something astonishing. The frame of EVE Online is established in its own lore -- something that does not get talked about enough when discussing the long-running MMORPG.
And he's definitely not promoting the MMORPG brief. Story threads that connect players with the world around them are being put years in advance -- and following 17 years in existence, EVE Online knows the way to allow for the narrative seeds to be sown. Players consistent concept craft, questioning every element of the EVE lore on Reddit, the EVE forums, various player run Discord channels. I recall being at EVE Amsterdam last year and sat around a table with a few players since they discussed the Triglavian invasion in detail, questioning everything kind the language to why the simple fact the alien race did everything in threes was important.
Players in many games often question and produce theories about where a story is moving in an MMO. However, with EVE Online, every action that a player makes may have the potential to change not just their own gameplay at the time, but spiral into something major down the road.
"I joined CCP ten years back," Bergur continued,"and that I combined the EVE Online group in 2014. The Drifters were actually one of the first things I worked in EVE. And my type of greatest pet peeve once I began in EVE was the simple fact that I constantly felt that, you know, you had the game -- the wonderful EVE Online universe and interactions . And then PvE and Missions -- they sort of sat outside, it didn't matter that some of the articles existed outside -- it didn't matter that a number of the articles existed. You could kill the same rat , again, again, and again and it did not affect the world in purposeful ways. So I felt just like these elements were missing form the story telling aspect of EVE."
Therefore, going back to 2014, if you have been paying attention, you may begin to find the seeds of the storyline that's still going on today. These narrative threads aren't just reinforced by CCP themselves, but researched, dissected and discussed among the community as I alluded to earlier. But even CCP get in on the action, like the Scope, an in-game information cast that discusses major story beats and upgrades from the perspective of an in-game news team.
