However, while I played them on the hardest difficulty possible however, I did not find it to be beneficial to practice as quarterbacks and receivers have god-like abilities and the online experience is significantly more realistic, therefore you can't just toss a 60-yard throw into double coverage and expect to come up with the ball.
Solo Battles became my favourite mode, because it allowed me to play a few games against my computer with increasing difficulties with Competitive settings. In a matter of weeks, I'd reached a point where I could blowout an adversary on Pro and beat them at All-Pro but I struggle with All-Madden. Online play is definitely harder when you're with a real-life human opponent, but people are also susceptible to mistakes and impatience which computers do not have.
And so I got my first win this week, an 18-14 win against a player who I'd guess was on the same level as my own - possibly a bit better. Like I mentioned earlier, though, they lacked perseverance: they didn't punt the ball, even on fourth-and-long. Furthermore, they were a bit erratic in their decisions. In all honesty I was sure I'd slump to a loss when they succeeded with an onside kick after the kick-off that started the game. I eventually conceded an opportunity to score, but I fought on.
I managed to score an touchdown and a 2-point conversion on my first play and I then scored one field goal towards close of the quarter, leading by 11-6 at halftime. The second half with a touchdown, and thereafter I was focused on not allowing any major play.
While I did give up the score of a touchdown as well as a two point conversion in the second half I was able eat enough time to finish out the game as I knew my opponent needed an end-of-game touchdown in their final game.
