I've written a post talking an alternative, it's about the subreddit if you want additional information. In a nutshell, make an option where ships may travel freely, without danger around the cluster but punish this danger free option with longer travel times. Thus, you won't need to stare at your phone for 40 minutes but it may take 80 or 160 minutes to do the identical trip instead. You have the choice to get a risk free transit, paying time or a risky transit, paying isk if you get murdered.
I would actually be nice with this tbh. Longer risk-free when I am at work or spotty relationship, briefer risky when I am at home on bluestacks and equipped to have it up on a side track and pay extra attention. Would not be a poor compromise.
Or you may just actually allow it to be a mobile game. It's not supposed to be a complete EO experience. Like seriously. Make it so you can be attacked when you reconnect and it's fine.And increasing time much is restrictive in many other respects, the travel takes a while as it is. Just needing to not babysit the game while traveling shouldn't mandate you doubling, tripling, or quadrupling your trip time.Again. This is a portable game, maybe not EO. It needs to be looked at through that lens.
